ADHD Parent Coaching - available now - website coming soon.

Hi, I’m Carolyn Robertson, founder of ADHD support. It’s great you are here!

I support parents and caregivers who are raising neurodivergent children — especially when things feel overwhelming, confusing, or just not working the way you hoped they would.

Because I’ve been there too, and I care deeply about helping families get the support they need.

Alongside my work as an ADHD-Informed Coach, Mental Health Coach and Parent Coach, I’m also a parent of a neurodivergent child - so I get it. I understand the daily realities — the emotional load, overwhelm, the constant problem-solving, the advocating, and the deep desire to get it right for your child. I also know the moments of joy, connection, and pride that come with seeing your child be fully themselves.

My clients become more confident in parenting their unique child, begin to see their child more settled and in control, and find that their family becomes more connected, respectful, and hopeful.

Based in Wellington, however, sessions can also be online.

What is ADHD Parent Coaching all about?

  • Parents often ask this. Commonly, our kids don’t know why they react a certain way, why they get overwhelmed, why things are harder for them than others - or what to do about big emotions. The more we as parents understand them, the better we are at supporting them to be the best version of themselves. By creating an environment where they feel safe, accepted and connected, we help our kids thrive. Coaching parents empowers you to lead the way.

    • Sometimes your Coaching works well alongside your child also receiving support from outside ADHD Support. We are happy to chat about this with you.

  • First off, I listen, then I listen some more. Then together, we:

    • explore any useful neurodiversity info you might be missing.

    • unpack behaviour and what’s sitting underneath it

    • look at your child’s strengths and how these can support their everyday challenges

    • explore practical tools and approaches

    • look at how to reduce overwhelm (for everyone)

    • find ways to strengthen connection with your child

    • focus on small, realistic changes

But I never stop listening :)

    • Firstly, you have a 20min free chat to explore whether coaching feels right for you.

    • Then you can look at which Coaching package fits your needs.

    • You receive a form and an invoice and we book you in, ready to begin your life-changing sessions.

    • Change is a process (sorry no magic wands available), we get curious, we explore and we try things out.

    • You need time to unpack and rebuild

    • Your trialling might need tweeking, we are here to support you with small easy steps towards big changes for the whole family.

    • The more tools you have in your toolbox, the more in control you feel as your child ages.

  • I’m sure you have been noticing some traits in your child that seem neurodivergent and that’s why you are here. You are welcome! While you might be working your way towards a diagnosis, the same parent support applies. Parenting your unique child starts with where ever they are at.

  • "Before I started, I felt like I had tried everything and was failing my ADHD teenager. Through Carolyn's sessions I gained new confidence, fresh strategies, and a completely different way of understanding my son’s perspective. The changes we’ve made have had a huge impact on the tone and connection in our home. Our family dynamic feels calmer, more connected, and much more compassionate. I’m so grateful — and it feels like this is only the beginning."

—Wellington Mum of a teen with ADHD

  • "Carolyn, thanks again for taking us on this journey of discovery into ADHD. It’s been enlightening to understand how ADHD brains are wired and how we realised it was us that needed to make the first changes, in order for us to expect any change in our daughter. I feel like we now parent in a far more curious and compassionate way - and I am now calmer! No doubt we will be back in touch for a check-in session in the near future. "

    —Wellington Mum

  • "At first, I thought it was unusual to go through the programme without our child present. But after working closely with Carolyn over several months, I can really see the logic. There’s so much for parents to learn. Deepening our understanding and approach to our child has been incredibly rewarding for everyone involved. I can truly recommend Carolyn and her authentic, hands-on support."

—Father of a child with combined type ADHD

  • “Carolyn gets what real life actually looks like, and understands first hand parenting a ND child. I found her coaching supportive, down-to-earth, and grounded in genuine empathy. She’s helped me make changes that feel doable, not overwhelming — and truly aligned with what I need.”

    —Emma, Palmerston North

  • “Carolyn has a gentle way about her, with great listening skills. She gave me strategies on how to cope with family, friends and colleagues. I trusted her, and so I was really honest and open. I have recommended her to lots of my friends. I have accepted a lot of things, which I worried about before – it’s been life-changing.”
